Trustees may find it productive to refresh their knowledge of current charity issues by a programme of education and training.
Wrigleys offers this both through its seminar programme and through tailored trustee training, which can be delivered on site where a charity is operating. The on-site training can be tailored to the needs of the charity and will often include work on governance, trustee legal responsibilities, the Hallmarks of an Effective Charity and specific legal issues relating to e.g. grant-making or operational matters. SORP 2005 requires the trustees' annual report to include reports on the induction and training provided for new trustees. Many charities have taken this as a prompt to bring training into the regular life of the charity.
