Booklet: Supporting people to make decisions: applying the Mental Capacity Act

The British Medical Association Patient Information Awards 2014 were held at BMA House, London on Monday 22 September 2014, where Professor Ilora Baroness Finlay of Llandaff was the guest of honour.

Jenny Lang, librarian at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust commented that the booklet 'covers the legal aspects of this difficult situation in sufficient detail to help and support people going through this situation but with sensitivity and with empathy'.

The booklet is aimed at anyone concerned about a friend or family member’s ability to make decisions and explains the Mental Capacity Act, as well as how to make applications to the Court of Protection.

The booklet can be purchased directly from Headway here
