How you can help extend the Community Housing Fund

30 May 2019

Time is running out to help extend the Community Housing Fund as the deadline for the Government's recent call for information is this Friday 31 May.

What is the Community Housing Fund?

Originally announced in the 2016 Spring Budget, the Community Housing Fund was established for communities affected by second home ownership. The fund has made £163 million available to local groups planning affordable, community led housing projects since its launch.

The funding has been released in two tranches: firstly revenue grants to fund pre-development costs and secondly capital grants to enable the delivery of the affordable housing.

The current deadline for applications to the fund is December 2019, or until the funding is fully committed, whichever is earlier, and all grants made through the fund must be spent by the end of March 2020.

What can you do?

If you are a community group that is planning to deliver a community led housing project in the coming years (and have not already submitted a revenue or capital application in relation to your project), Homes England wants to hear from you. The Government has said that it will use the information collected to determine the interest in taking community led housing projects forward over the coming years.

The call for information pro forma can be found here - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/call-for-information-on-community-led-housing-projects-by-may-31st - but you will need to act quickly, the deadline for input is Friday 31 May 2019.
