Wrigleys Solicitors regain top spot in Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2018

13 August 2018

The firm has once again achieved Band 1 ranking (regional guide) and are delighted to be recognised as a Band 1 National Leader (outside London).

Wrigleys are very proud to announce the results of the Chamber & Partners High Net Worth guide for 2018. Not only have we regained our top spot in Band 1 for the regional guide of Leeds, Bradford and the surrounding areas, but our national presence and scope has been recognised as we become a 'National Leader' in the Private Wealth Law category.

The Chambers & Partners High Net Worth guide is a reference and directory of the leading firms and individuals who specialise in tax, trusts and estate planning.

Our peers told the high net worth guide that we have "a solid reputation for old-money, landed estates …It has a good reputation for substantial high net worth individuals" and we are "a very highly regarded private client team with lots of blue-chip high net worth individuals."

Our clients told researchers "they are the top private client practice in the North of England."

We are very proud of the expertise and reputation of our private client team that is well established both nationally and regionally. To be ranked in a national list recognises and acknowledges the hard work of the team.

Further good news comes in the form of our list of ranked partners increasing. "Excellent private client practitioner" Andrew Wriglesworth and the "very intelligent and competent" Marie-Louise Hamilton have held their places within the guide for years, but this year they are joined by the "very well respected" Angus Hunter Smart, known for advising many landed estates.

Leading the landed estates sector of the private client department, Andrew Wriglesworth often advises ultra high net worth clients on estate, heritage and succession planning matters. "In terms of understanding of the law and technical aspects as well as the ability to apply it, there is no one better than him" Chamber & Partner researchers were told.

Leading the whole private client team, Marie-Louise Hamilton is head of the trust management team and the family business team and has a growing niche specialism in acting for clients in the sports, music and film industries. Juggling these many differing client bases, Marie-Louise still manages to "give well-targeted and appropriate advice."

Newly listed, but very well known Angus Hunter Smart specialises in succession planning, wealth protection and tax mitigation. This well deserved ranking is supported by clients who told researchers "He stands head and shoulders above everybody. He is the name you hear all the time. Very well respected and absolutely great lawyer."

As a firm we could like to congratulate the private client department and those partners who have been listed this year. Private client work is the foundation of Wrigleys as a firm, and together with our complementary niche areas remains core to what the firm does. To maintain this recognition demonstrates that the firm has remained true to its roots and continues to be highly regarded within the market.
