July introduction of Electronic Seal for CoP Orders

As part of improvements to its services, the Court of Protection have introduced the electronic seal will provide for non-financial orders in order to:

  • speed up the despatch of orders,
  • improve the efficiency of staff resources and
  • introduce a more consistent way of working.

When does this take place?
Commencing on 21st July 2017, all non-financial orders produced in the Court of
Protection will be endorsed with an electronic seal.

What will be the procedure?
The date that the order has been served will be no longer recorded using an ‘entered/issued’ stamp, instead the date of service will be typed onto the order. This will be done beneath the date that the ordered was made and will be recorded as follows ‘Issued on dd-mm-yyyy’.

If you have any queries, the Court invites users to contact their local COP office.
