We are pleased to present the full agenda for our upcoming Employment Law Conference for Charities. This conference is designed for senior leadership teams, HR professionals responsible for people matters across the sector.
The agenda includes focused breakout sessions on data protection, sexual harrassment and managing grievances within disciplinary procedures, alongside keynote presentations addressing:
- The implications of artificial intelligence on the employment relationship
- Alcohol culture in the workplace and its impact on organisational wellbeing
- Findings of the report 'Black women's experience of sexual harassment in the workplace' by the Black Women and Sexual Harassment Advisory Group

Having spoken widely on the crucial topics of equality and Black representation, Michelle will share her insights on Black women's experience of sexual harassment in the workplace.

Breakout 1A: Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace – Practical Steps for Employers
Colin Walker is Head of Safeguarding and Jenny Cooke is an Early Intervention Coordinator, both at Safeline
They will deliver a session that will provide a greater understanding of sexual harassment, including what it looks like, its impact and the legal responsibilities, as well offering practical support on how organisations can create safer workplaces by implementing effective policies and procedures. They will also highlight what support and resources are available for employees.
Breakout 1B: Breach! New Technologies, New Threats to Personal Data
Nick Dunn is an associate in our charities and social economy team
New technologies provide charities with a significant opportunity to enhance their use of data, but they also present new threats to the data held. Employees are the first line of defence, but also the greatest vulnerability. This breakout session explores some of the emerging data breach trends and how you can help your employees recognise and prevent them.

Breakout 2A: Getting Ready for Day One Unfair Dismissal Rights
Michael Crowther is an associate in our charities and employment team
The Employment Rights Bill proposes to grant all employees day one protection from unfair dismissal (but it’s a bit more complicated than that). Our employment law associate Michael Crowther will guide you through exactly what the proposed change to the law is, what the practical implications for employers are and how you and your organisation can get ready for it.
Breakout 2B: Balancing act - Navigating Grievances During the Disciplinary Process
Alexandria Evans is an associate in our charities and employment team
It is increasingly common for employees to raise grievances when facing warnings or dismissal. How do you decide whether to suspend the disciplinary process or continue? Employment law associate Alexandria Evans will discuss fair disciplinary practices, what a grievance is, who can raise one, and why. Alex will also cover when to pause the disciplinary process, how to handle both processes together, and how long to pause if needed.
