Sally joined JSP in 2008 as regional manager for adult case management in Sheffield. She went on to become director of case management services in 2013.

In November 2015 Sally became clinical director having the overall responsibility for the clinical direction of the company, incorporating both case management and therapy services. Sally is responsible for the leadership and professional development of the clinical senior managers companywide. She is responsible for company matters such as clinical practice and policy, quality, staffing and developments within the clinical practice. Sally consults on a wide range of clinical casework and retains a small case management caseload. As a member of the expert team, she is able to use her extensive medico-legal experience when writing immediate needs assessments and expert reports for both claimants and defendants.

Sally is a registered general nurse, registered mental nurse and has a BSc in community nursing, in addition to a diploma in professional nursing studies. She has worked for over twenty years in the field of neurological rehabilitation, specialising in brain injury rehabilitation, and has managed in-patient services as well as a community-based service in the NHS.

Nathan was called to the Bar in 1992 and specialises in clinical negligence, catastrophic personal injury claims, product liability, and professional negligence. He has extensive experience of brain injury litigation and he has recently co-authored the legal chapters in “Brain Injury Claims”, practitioner text published by Sweet & Maxwell.

Over recent years Nathan has acted in some of the highest value actions in his field, for example Collier v Norton where he represented a tetraplegic teenager whose claim is currently believed to be the largest approved settlement of its kind (in excess of £20 million – see the introduction to Facts & Figure 2016/17 for a comment on this case). He has particular experience of mental health claims both in the public and private law sphere and he has acted in many actions concerning psychiatric negligence including human rights claims arising out of deaths in custody.

Other areas of injury litigation in which Nathan has special expertise include travel law, aviation accidents (his first degree was in Aeronautical Engineering and he has acted in a number of claims with significant aviation liability issues), claims involving the MoD, and industrial disease litigation. Nathan is an experienced horse rider and has acted predominantly for riding institutions or showgrounds in many horse-related claims.

Nathan has sat as a part-time Judge of the Mental Health Tribunal since 2004, and has recently been authorised to sit part-time as a Judge in the Court of Protection. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Personal Injury Law to which he regularly contributes case comments.

Jennifer Seaman’s practice includes all areas of chancery and commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on pensions, trusts and probate disputes, contractual and commercial disputes, civil fraud, professional negligence, company and partnership disputes, property and insolvency.

Jennifer regularly appears as a sole advocate in the High Court. She has had appeared, as junior counsel, in the Court of Appeal and in the Supreme Court. She was instructed on two high-profile Supreme Court cases: Futter v HMRC [2013] UKSC 26 (trustee powers and mistaken dispositions) and Benedetti v Sawiris [2013] UKSC 50 (restitution and quantum meruit awards).

Jennifer was appointed to the Attorney General’s B Panel in June 2016 – through this appointment, she has advised a number of government departments and agencies (including the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office, Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy) on issues concerning trusts, trustee powers and pensions law. She is recommended as a Leading Junior in the field of Pensions in Chambers & Partners and in The Legal 500.

Ed has advised on numerous cases involving jurisdictional issues, overseas assets, corporate entities, significant pensions and trusts. His clients typically include professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners (or their spouses).

Ed is recognised as a Star Associate by Chambers, with sources referring to him in 2018 as “a strong performer who is exceptionally bright”, and “sensible and meticulous in his approach” and, in 2019, as somebody who “makes sure he gets the best outcome for his clients whichever way it is needed, whether it is negotiation, mediation, or court proceedings”.  Ed is also recognised by The Legal 500 for his exceptional client care skills and features as a Prominent Figure in the Citywealth Leaders List.

Ed has been involved in various High Court matters, some of which have been reported. He has recently advised clients on cases involving shareholder disputes, disputed jurisdiction and significant pension assets.

A significant number of Adrian’s cases involve trusts (both on and offshore), commercial and tax issues, family businesses, inherited wealth, international aspects and the tracing of assets. He has considerable expertise in the negotiation of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and the treatment of personal injury damages on divorce.

Adrian has a particular interest in cohabitation claims, including the property rights of unmarried families. He has commentated in the local and national press on cohabitation issues.

He also advises on disputes relating to children, including paternity, residence, international relocation and financial provision.

He has been described as “very bright, enthusiastic and able”, as “affable, supportive and a good listener” and as a “clear thinker, tenacious and resourceful” who “has the ability to get straight to the nub of the issue and advise in a very clear and practical way” with “an unflappable demeanour”.
